WEEK 2: CALL + CANVA

Hello and salutation,

So on this week's post, I will be sharing with all of you about CALL and Canva

CALL is the acronym for Computer Assisted Language Learning. CALL Programmes can be divided into CD-ROMs, Websites, Blogs, Presentation.There are 3 progressions of CALL which are Behaviouristic, Communicative and Integrative. 

1. Behaviouristic includes audio lingual method, repetitive drill and it also transfer textbooks and worksheets to computer apps. It also can provide immediate feedbacks where students can work at their own pace outside the classroom.

2. Communicative focuses on usage of language rather than grammar. The students learn through communication and it somehow more implicit than being explicit. Role of computer, it is as a tutor, stimulus and tool. Computer acts as a tutor in which it guides you without getting judged. Computer also acts as a stimulus as it can train you to solve the problems. Besides, computer is also a tool in which you can involve generic software from it. 

3. Integrative is the integration of real-world material into CALL. One of the examples that has been implied here in Malaysia is MyHE. It focuses on authentic two way communication which students can directly communicate with other speakers and learners of the language. 

Next, I am going to talk about Canva. Canva is an application where you can create your own logo, background, poster etc for FREE! Amazing! So here, we learned on how to create a background for my blog, woohooo. Well, as you can see, my header is created in Canva. Beautiful, isn't it? So, if you wanted to try it, I'll be providing the link down there. But, in order for you to use the apps, you need to either sign up or sign in using your Google account. Plus, some of the features there are not free. It means you need to pay for it in order for you to use it. Fret not, my header is made of totally free features.
